Vid card vs TV

I find myself with 2 Sony XBR-65X750D TVs. In my PC I currently use an ATI FirePro 2460 to drive 2 24” Acer monitors.

After I move I am thinking of using one of the TVs as a monitor. The TV can do 3480x2160. I assume the vid card can drive the TV with no problem.

In the physical setup my face will be about 30” from the screen. Will this be ergonomic hell?

I barely was able to handle a 40'' that close to my face, i had to wall mount my tv then rearrange my entire room which was the plan anyways as i had to huddle next to my 27'' prior. I sit about 4 feet back and the 40'' feels perfect. I sat about 3 feet away from the 27'' and it felt sometimes like a bit much but over time it felt right at home but having tried even a 32'' t.v i certainly realized even that big was to much at such a close distance.

A google search shows your card does support 4k but if its at 60hz or 30hz i am not sure. Most google searches pull up mini display ports only on such a card? I could be way wrong but it may be a safe bet its only supporting 30hz? Its a 9 year old card anyways. Anyone feel free to correct me on this one.

You would probably need an Active Club3D adapter, to convert from mini-DP to HDMI2.0. I had to do something similar.

I am willing to replace the vid card. I don’t play games. Just Word, Excel, VS, SQL, Access, financial apps.

Suggestions?

Got the 6-pin PCI-E connector version card. Software install did not leave me warm and fuzzy but I finally got it working.

Wow! 3840x2160 is small. :) I have settled on 2560x1440.

Screen is 3 ft from eyeballs. Text is crisp

I was a big skeptic of text size and 4k myself but this was at smaller sizes. Just got a 28'' Samsung 4k monitor and out of the box W10 sets desktop scaling to 150% and this text is perfectly fine. Some people made it seem like a pretty big deal but perhaps some updates have came out since to fix this?

Even out of the box text in games have been fine as well so far with what i have ran.

Nice tip on the DPI scaling. I was looking for something that would do this and just didn't know what to search for. I need to set that on my HTPC since at the distance I am from the TV, it gets a little rough reading with the default settings.
