I'm thinking of replacing my Geforce 7600GT with a HD 3850. Would this be overkill for my system?
My system: Asus A8N-E, Opteron 145 oc'd to 2.4, Antec 450 PS w/pci-e power connector, 2gb ram, WD Sata, open case with lots of fans.
 
No overkill but you should get something other than 3850. 3850 has sub par AA performance compared to say 4670, 9600gt, 9800gt, 4830
 
3850 is still at least twice as fast as 7600GT. If the card is under or around $50, that would be a great deal. If it's more than that, then an HD4670 would be a good choice.
