Vid card resolution quest.

I am looking at some LCD monitors, just cheap ones for my budget, and several have 1366x768 as their native resolution. Is that typical? Can graphic cards normally produce that resolution? I have tried to download the manuals for several graphics cards, but they do not list the available resolutions.

I have had problems before, where my TV/lcd did not match the available resolutions of graphics cards (for instance unable to find a monitor for a 1280x800 output from a laptop). But now I am looking at ATI Radeon 3850/4830 cards. So I want to make sure that my graphics card will be compatible for any monitor I buy. But none of these graphics cards will list their resolutions, only their max resolution. I haven't bought a graphics card yet, that will be after a monitor.

it should work ok.

most 720P tvs are that res and i've hooked up computers to my 32" 1366x768 tv plenty of times and it works fine.

You give them a 1280x720 signal. This is what your DVD player or Xbox gives them if you tell it "720P".

Do the drivers support custom resolutions, if its not already standard? I have downloaed the catalyst manual from ATI and even the manula for hydravision, but nothing on supported resolutions.

almost any reasonably recent video card can support 1366x768. it is a fairly normal resolution because of all the TVs that use it.

you can use power strip or a lot of other utilities to make up any other resolution you want.
