Recently got a new Leadtek 6800GT and had some problems right from the start. I'l trying to decide if I should order a new PSU or RMA the card. The following is what I did and observed. I was considering just ordering a new PSU (OCZ 520) and trying it again, but the time is getting short to RMA the 6800GT and I dont know if the PSU would get here in time. Or I can RMA it, try the replacement and if the same then ordder the PSU... not sure what to do next? Any help would be appreciated.
Uninstalled Ti4200 Drivers and ran driver cleaner
Installed 6800GT and turned pc on (aux power on cable by itself)
1st Boot: No corruption issues
Went to install drivers. PC locked up during install ~ had to do a hard shutdown
2nd Boot: major corruption issues with varous characters coving both Vid Bios and MB Bios
Installed Drivers - No problem this time, but some seriuos vid problems observed
Poor display on winlogin screen(lines, mis-colored)
In windows - small tan colored squares dotting the screen
Subsequent boots- same as 2nd
Uninstalled 6800GT and re-installed Ti4200
Boot and installed drivers - Everything perfect
Removed and uninstalled drivers 2nd time
FIRMLY seated 6800GT and powered by solitary cable
UNPLUGGED CD-R/DVD/Floppy/All Non-Essential Fans
1st Boot - No Corruption Observed
Winlogin looked good
Windows looked good initially(clear of corruption)
As time started to go by the small tan squares started to appear, faintly at first then becomming more pronounced.
Installed drivers - success
After exiting install, PC locked before being able to restart - Hard shutdown
Rebooted and again major corruption in bios screens
Rebooted again prior to going in to windows, major corruption in bios screens
Rebooted this time letting it go into windows.
Winlogin screen - corruption and lines
Windows - those damn tan squares again, followed by blue screen
Back to Ti4200 128 and all perfect
