I recently got a new geForce Ti 4600, and have tried it in two different systems running WinXP Pro.

In the boot up screen, there seems to be lines that don't belong there. When it gets into WinXP, they go away.
I have installed the latest NVidia drivers, and I keep arriving at an error that certain files of that type are causing errors. Causing lock-ups and resets.

I have been able to install the drivers before. I then run the "gecko" demo provided with the software. It seems as if there are spots that don't belong there. (artifacts...whatver they're called).

Occasionally icons on the desktop are surrounded by pink blocks, and the cursor with small light blue lines.

I've never seen a 'defect' video card...and it is surprising since it was brand new, right out of the retail box...but it did boot and it did install...

Is this one I should return? Or perhaps there is some driver issues with XP? I don't know.

I have read that some of these things may happen because there is not enough voltage going to the card. I was testing on one system that is nearly 3 years old, a P600. However, similar things were happening when I stuck it in with a Asus P4T mobo ( a year old ).

I do not believe there are BIOS settings that allow for me to change voltages with the current two systems. However, I plan on sticking this in with a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP when I get it.

Does anyone believe that "low voltage" is actually the issue? Or do my problems go beyond that?

Currently seeking RMA from newegg in any case.

I've been reading that alot of people are getting GF4's with bad memory. Image artifacts are usualy a sign of bad memory.
It's not likely a power problem; if it were, your machine would crash, not leave artifacts.

RMA it.
Good Luck

I?m having an identical problem with a MSI Ti4600 card & Gigabyte 7VRXP mbd. I have already RMA?d one video card?the second one is no better. (and replied similarly in another thred) Perhaps a power AND IRQ issue? Haven?t had enough time to play around with the h/w combinations yet, but this problem seems pretty damn common. Is it just MSI cards, or GeF4 in general?

I have a MSI Ti4200 and a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP...having a similar problem.

I just took my whole box to the store that my buddy works at and have the techs troubleshoot it. I'm too pissed and don't have enough time...

There seems to be a conflict between the board and the card...or my PSU isn't supplying enough juice. Either way...it's pretty stupid. I'll see if I can find out anything.
