Vid Card for new PC purchase...

Gonna be ordering a complete game pc on the 18th and originally planned on the Asus GTX 780OC, but am now having second thoughts seeing the AMD price drops. I can get a Gigabyte HD 7990 for $40 less. I know this is an older card then the 780 so will this be good for the next couple gens? SLI was in the near future with a possible Surround monitor setup.

Almost forgot to mention I will only be gaming in 1080p as that's the max res of my two Benq monitors. Does matching manufactures of vid cards and mobo's really matter?

I would wait for the new AMD cards to release in a couple weeks. Pricing is going to change, mostly downwards, on AMD and nvidia cards around that time. Make your decision then. Since you're planning to spend a good bit of money you should see how the R9 290X performs.

OP since you are ordering on Oct 18th, R9 290X reviews will be out and then you can decide which card you want to buy. also some price cuts on Nvidia cards might be due. so don't hurry.
