Victory, We Hardly Knew Ye. Victory Motorcyles going away.....and Buell (EBR) too.

Bummer. Polaris is pulling the plug on Victory. I didn't always like their look, but appreciated that they were trying to do their own thing. My neighbor has one and it seems like a very well made bike. The paint and overall fit and finish are great.

Erik Buell Racing is also shutting down. Not surprising really, but sad. Always hoped he could make it work. He had some cool ideas. Good looking bikes too.

Neither of those brands ever did anything for me quite frankly and without them we still have a great deal of choice in the motorcycle marketplace.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Victory brand come back at some point in the future.

So what happens with Hero? They had a huge stake in Buell and Hero was supposed to enter the US market soon. I presume this fell apart the first time EBR went under, but what now?

Well, once Polaris had purchased Indian, the writing was pretty much on the wall as to Victory's fate. Polaris had one brand with a deep and long history, even though it'd been "out of production" for a spell.

Then you have another brand that's almost brand new, relatively speaking, and has hugely ugly machines. No history, no focus. Not surprised Victory lost.

Had a couple of Polaris ATVs. It would be hard for me to trust them again.
and i am the opposite, i had polaris snowmobile and ATV and both were rock solid even though i abuse the crap out of them for many years.
