Vice City and Radeon- Please Help me!!

Ok I'm completely addicted to Vice City I must play every night.

Last night I got to Boomshine, and my saved game will not run at all now. It just crashes when it goes to play the into to Boomshine.

I have an Athlon 2800 Barton Asus MB and Sapphire Radeon 9000 128MB. I read that the Catalyst drivers are causing an issue with VC. I had some problems before crashing but they were random. Now my saved game won't even load. I have to do something the widthdrawal is killing me.

I have tried the newest catalysts, and version 3.2. Also I have tried 800x600x 16 and all seem to have no effect.

Is there anything I can do?

What Video card do I have to buy to get it to work? 🙂

thanks!

i heard when you change catalyst drivers u need to delete some of the files the VC folder so that textures can be re-recognized (you know like when u run the game after you first install it...it says something like "optimizing textures for your video card"). you could prolly find more info on the rage3d boards.

Do you have any older video cards you could just temporarily use to get over that part? You could just get through that, save, and put your Radeon back in...

yea that's what I'm going to do. Gotta find one first, only one I got is a Matrox G200. I somehow doubt that will work. :-(

Same thing happened to me, well, sorta. I tried to burn a backup of my savegame, and for some strange reason it corrupted my save games (somehow, don't ask how) and I was quite near the end. :/
