Vibrations cause waves on monitor.

When I play music with a moderate ammount of bass (or tap it on the side) my monitor gets some 'waves' on it (darker flickers located mostly on the right side of the screen, but a little on the left side too). It seems like something (magnet or mesh) is loose. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what might be causing this?

Monitor is a Dell P1110 21" with Trinitron tube.

Thanks

i was going to say it sounds like a magnetic interference problem (when you said the bass), but if it just happens when you're tapping on it (no music), sounds like something's loose all right... unless you really know your way around the inside of a monitor, i'd take it to a professional or RMA it

good luck!

How hard are you tapping on it? My 21" Trinitron does the same thing if I give it a good whack or really crank up my Altec 641's. It's just the aperture grille vibrating.

Nothing to worry about unless VERY light taps on the side or "normal person" speaker volumes cause it.

Seems to be normal. I tried this (wacks on the side) with two other identical monitors and they did the same thing.

Thanks all.
