Vibration attenuation of my hsf - should I try this?

I have a Taisol CGK742092B (Big Bad Voodoo Daddy) hsf on my Abit KT7A Raid mobo cooling my 1.33GHz tbird. The fan on the hsf is a 30CFM Delta screamer. The sound it makes alot of the time sounds like vibrations to me (the fan vibrating on the heatsink). This afternoon I had a thought: would it be beneficial for me to make a "cushion" out of like Garlok sheet gasket and sit it between the fan and the heatsink to act as a shock absorber? The gasket would also prevent airflow from the fan from escaping the heatsink so I won't lose cooling efficiency.

Any ideas or comments?

My Delta 7k fan self destructed last night. I woke up to this loud annoying screaming noise only
to find my Tbird 1.2 blue screened. I quickly sut down and looked at the fan. 2 of the 3 supports that
hold the motor and fan blades were broke and the fan blades actually started to melt because of the friction.
Thanks god I ordered the gc68 fan as a backup last week.

I have a delta 38 and I could feel the vibration if my case touched my desk. That can't be a good thing. I tried bigger washers no difference.
Ended up using insulation for a wall switch. It's about 1/8 of an inch.thick. I traced out the fan hole and screw holes and it worked quite well. Less noise and vibration. I just ordered a 30 thinking it would be the answer for me and that's what you have. Oh well--------------
Good Luck
