It would seem the VT8251 is nearing release, because VIA has released driver support for it:

VIA HD Audio Codec VT1618 with VT8237A & VT8251

VIA AC97 codec incorporated into VT8251 South Bridge

I hate it when companies resort to information black-outs, thinking that nobody will notice.
