Here is some latest info on VIA?s plans concerning chipset South Bridges development. See what we are about to get in the nearest future:
VT8233: V-Link bus (this is a bus connecting the North and the South Bridges and providing the bandwidth of 266MB/sec), AC?97 codec, 6 USB 1.1 ports, HomePNA, 10/100 Base-T, 2 UDMA33/66/ATA-100 channels, IO APIC.
The engineering samples are already available. Mass production should start this quarter.
VT8233C: this one is similar to VT8233, however, it features the communications part from 3Com.
The engineering samples should become available in Q1 2001. Mass manufacturing should begin in late Q2 2001.
VT8235: 8/16bit V-Link, 6 USB 2.0 ports, integrated DSL or Wireless.
The first engineering samples are due in Q3 2001.
VT8237: fast LDT (Lightning Data Transport) bus, 6 USB 2.0 ports, integrated DSL or Wireless.
The engineering samples will be out In Q4 2001.
