I am in the market for a P4 Northwood MB. Obviously my choices are: 845-D, 850, SIS 645, and VIA P4X266A. I wish for you to help in my selection.
To start off, I do NOT wish to flame here, all I ask of is your generosity in providing me decent and useful information. I have heard that people have many incompatability problems with VIA and SIS chipsets. I got this link from another thread that briefly concerns this: Link
First: We have all been down this road some time or another when we get a new video card, and it doesn't work with Brand-x chipset, or when a system running on a Brand-x chipset crashes like hell. I want to know which is stable, reliable, and has very little compatability problems. I have heard that Intel is the best because they are associated with many developers. I would like your opinion.
Second: Which is the best P4 platform? What is the big difference between RIMM and DDR? Why does everybody trash RIMMs so much? I am not siding with either, I just want your opinions.
Third: Which is the best MB manufacturer for any given chipset with a good integrated RAID option? What problems have you had?
Thanks
