Via Raid or Nforce2 drivers?

I'm looking to buy a mboard for myself for college and I can't pin down which chipset to use... the new via kt600 or the older nforce2.
Anand has said that the nforce2 chipset utilizes better ide drivers giving 8-10% erformance over kt400 boards. I'm unsure if this will also translate into better i/o on an nforce2 board as compared to kt600 but I'm interested to know what you all think. So the question stands... will I get better performance for the money (around $115 is what I wanna spend) with a kt600/kt400 board with ide raid or an nforce2 without raid?

nForce2, no doubt about it. I use the 8RDA+ in my builds, and have zero complaints about the board. If you don't go with nForce2, then honestly, I'd recommend skipping ANY VIA board and go with Intel 🙂 As for RAID, save yourself the $$$ and forget about it...its not any faster for everday use. If you REALLY needed it, you would know 🙂

I've spotted the gigabyte 7n400 pro and I really like it at 120 bucks.... it has gigaraid already on it.... wouldn't I get a little bit of a boost to run raid on the nforce2 system or would it be nullified cuz of the drivers?
