Looking for a new MB for a pair of PIII 1gig socket CPU's. Would you go with the PRO 266 chipset or the 133? I was looking at the 840 but heard bad things about using it with Slockets. Are there any decent Intel SMP capable chipsets I should be looking at?

TIA!

I would go with the via pro 266 if you plan on buying now and don't have lots of pc133 memory. If you have pc133 memory that you paid a lot for awhile back and can't sell it for a good price to get DDR memory, then and only then would i say go with the pc133 version.

The 133 platform is much cheaper (MSI -> firewire and raid onboard!), very stable and well tested. I put 1 GB PC133 on it (- the cheapest way now to get 1 GB memory!) DDR may perform faster, but for socket 370 chipsets are not as good as they could be with DDR at this time.
