Legion X,

I don't have the VIA P4B400, however from reading the forums at Rage 3D, it would seem that NO ONE is getting the two to work together. Whose to blame VIA or ATI? Seems like both at this point. Although I'd expect drivers to fix this incompatibility will be release soon by both companies. Especially before the join ATI-NVIDIA-VIA AGP 8X validation event they are having.

I was able to boot up with the 9700 card in my Abit SR7-8x mobo, but when I try to play games, I receive a stop 0x000000EA blue screen caused by ati2dvag.dll. I tried running in AGP4x and AGP8X mode, but same error both times. I had to put in the Asus P4T533-C motherboard with the 9700 card for stability. It looks like this card does not work on the AGP8x mobos for some reason. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Vsekh,

Did you try the new BIOS abit released as of last week? You can find it here if you don't have it yet:

http://www.abit-usa.com/download_contentsr78.html?pTITLE=SL6&#Bios

Since, both AGP 8X and Radeon 9700 are so new i would expect some growing pains. Expect new drivers from ATI within two weeks. Also if you are running XP, be sure to download the new Service Pack. The drivers say specifically "designed for windows XP service pack 1". Or so I hear according to the Rage 3D boards. I'm getting my Radeon 9700 on Thursday :)

Let us know if anything works.

I had updated to the latest bios before I plugged in the 9700 since there was a fix for he SIS Xabre card hanging. I am going to download Windows XP service pack 1 soon, install this, then try it. I am awaiting a reply from ATI support also to see if they know of any compatibility issues with this motherboard and the 9700.
