Via Nano 3000

Anyone else excited by this? I hope some quality manufacturers jump on board after Via releases and start making more Netbooks and Nettops...I'm hoping I can get one to run as HTPC, and a netbook for the wife! Time will tell..

By the time time this ships Atom Atom Pine Trail will be shipping. No faster than N270, but half the power. Looking forward to a side-by-side.

It looks impressive. I've seen that page numerous times before. It's all the more impressive given that it is still 65nm.

looks like they added sse4 support and 200MHz

I'm waiting for them to hookup with ion, dunno if it'll happen tho.

If they can get this out in the first quarter of next year, it really does outperform the old nano by 20%, and it's lowered power consumption by a good amount, via could finally have a winner. 20% increase and its on a clock per clock performance with core solo (not core 2 solo) or perhaps some of the celerons in its price range. We could be looking at a low cost ULV platform.

Oh, and they really should use nvidia chipsets, it'd solve the primary weak point of the platform, though it might increase power consumption too much.

That's quite a feat in the 65nm manufacturing process (I think they use Fujitsu), considering that Via is only a fraction of Intel and has much less money to spend in R&D, it's amazing, I just hope they can get in more netbooks, Atom is just sluggish as hell.

Who says it's still 65nm? I'd expect it to be 45 or 40nm by this point, and the main reason for the improvements.

The fact that they don't say it's anything is good reason to go with it still being 65nm.
If it was 45/40 they would probably be shouting about it.
