VIA KT266A Mobo Lineup

This is pretty exciting! I'm going to be upgrading my KT133A to one of these. I always wait for the "A" versions of the VIA's. And in another thread, it's said the faster Palomino's are on their way real soon, too. Finally a reason to upgrade! Also, I'm wondering where IWILL is. I'm not much of an Overclocker, but IWILL seems to be the best from the KT133A.

Prices will come down a bit in a couple months on all these new products, and then...Merry Christmas to Me! 🙂

Hmmm I am wondering where IWill is too. Their KT133A board was definitely the best by far. I bought an Abit board before the IWill came out and ended up changing to the IWill. I don't want to repeat this occurance with the KT266A...but waiting is always hard!

the question is when will they be ready... release dates are ever so fickle, but its good to see some good names already working with that chipset.

/me prays for a 1.6 pally running on an asus kt266a mobo in 2-3 weeks!

the question is when will they be ready --nuttervm

It shouldn't be too long. Two, maybe three weeks tops. Remember, the K266A chipset is pin compatible with the K266. Mobo manufacturers should be able to just drop the new CE chip stepping in and adjust the values of the surrounding components to make the new boards fly. And if they bench anything like the reference boards, they will fly! 😉

No, I'm totally serious. The motherboard manufacturers on the list have already completed pre-fabrication trials and are getting ready to ramp for production and shipment. I'm not privy to the shipping volumes of the K266A, but I imagine they are already arriving by the pallet to their respective board makers.

Also, I'm wondering where IWILL is

IWill knows what they're doing. They're probably waiting around a bit so that they can create an innovative implimentation that blows the others away, just like with their KT133A chipset based board. I know waiting is hard, but in the field of computers it's always a good idea. Bugs get ironed out and prices drop. =)

Iwill's Mobo-X revealed;

"Iwill XP333
yeah, they renamed Xtreme333 to XP333. Don't get on me about it, I don't name these things

Also, the specs have been released in a newspaper, although Iwill didn't officially announce, so here it is:

ALi MAGik1 B0
Official 333Mhz support
up to 3GB DDR
IDE RAID ATA-133 using the new Highpoint chip
All the tweaking options that will make you get a woody, like Vcore up to 1.9V+ (2.2V if they listen to me)
VMEM, VIO, FSB's to 233Mhz in 1Mhz increments"
JackieO

Discussed here, here, and here

Original release date, before the end of this month, may not make it but will try to beat the KT266A release.

That's interesting, eGAK. But it's not a KT133A like we're looking for. Seems like their putting all their marbles in ALi. I just don't know how much confidence I have in that Chipset without any good reviews or many other MB manufacturers going with this. I need some reassurance and I can wait to make sure I'm doing the right thing before upgrading. It does look to have some great OC'ing features, but that seems to be their niche now. Anyone else going to be making MB's with this Chipset?

<< it's new to me, thanks ... i guess it's a good time to dump my old BX Master 🙂 >>

i hope you don't really mean dump it in the literal sense. sell it to me i can find something to do with it!
