VIA kt266 VS AMD 760

Right now, the AMD 761 based boards are the best performing. Via is soon releasing a new revision of the KT266 that is supposed to improve performance considerably over the earlier KT266's, but for now the AMD 761 is the DDR chipset to get. 🙂

oh, and its cheaper... i'm not that sure about stability tho, but they are both good if you have good power circuitry on you mobo

<<Um, no. In most cases, AMD761 outperforms KT266.>>

In most cases, KT266 would be close to 760. AMD might come out ahead in a few benches, but overall doesnt slaughter the KT266. That will chance as soon as the revised KT266 boards come out.

<<AND it's more stable to boot.>>

That's more like just a psychological effect. Remember, the KT266s dont have 686B, the 760s do.

The KT266 isnt as overclockable fsb wise. It maxes out at 150-160mhz whereas people have had the amd 760 at 200mhz.

As far as hardware implementation is concerned. The KT266 should easily outperform the 760 although the current design of the KT266 isn't there yet.

I'd go for the 760- it's a little more mature. If i was waiting for anything it would be the New SiS chipset or nForce
