VIA install problems, correct order?

I've updated VIA drivers tons of times in the past, but I messed things up this time and am having problems. I think this was the first time I tried upgrading with the IDE miniport driver installed, which I think is giving me problems. My burner doesn't work anymore, so I figured it's time for a system format anyway.

After formatting, I go ahead and install WinXP, then the 4.37's and then the IDE miniport driver?
Anyone having problems with the 4.37's? I had 4.35's that were working fine, but being the idiot that I was, I tried messing around with the 4.37's. I don't think it's the drivers, it's just that I think I upgraded wrong.

Anyone want to give me the correct run through? Or if there's a way to get my burner back without formatting?
Under my device manager, I now have exclamation marks on my Primary IDE Channel, Secondary BM Ultra DMA Channel and Secondary IDE Channel. All of them are saying I don't have enough resources to run them. But my drives are working fine except for the burner. My VIA Bus Master IDE Controller and Primary BM Ultra DMA Channel controller's don't have the exclamation. I'm running an Asus A7V133 which explains the extra IDE controllers.

Have a Great New Year!

Why? Easiest way is just use the 4 in 1s that are in XP, since the new 4 in 1's don't perform any better and in fact a lot of people are having issues with them. Take a look at the install directions you downloaded with the new 4 in 1's. When using a VIA chipset and XP you have to hack the drivers in order for them to work from what I recall. If all else fails read the directions. 😉

Hack the drivers? Never had to do that when I successfully installed the 4.35's. The directions don't really provide much, they make no mention of the miniport driver. I'll just go ahead and do what I said. I only ran into problems when I tried installing over the miniport drivers.

I just finished my new system and use xp pro. I didn't use the via drivers 4 in 1, I let xp take of it and it rocks.
I hope this helps .
