VIA AC?97 Audio Controller (WDM)
i have a gateway 300s
2400 MHz.amd
winxp pro
mobo intel brownville d845 gb.
the onboard sound will not work.
there were five 5 Controllers not found ,fixed four of them .usb ,video
VIA AC?97 Audio Controller (WDM) for this comp does not seem to install right.
the gateway site is no real help.if you need my serial # is 0031502126 for use on the gateway site.called gateway ,the say mobo no longer supported with all drvs.i have no restore disk.is there a fix or a trick?

Hi, Have had the same kind of problem with AC97 several times. Some time it just wont reload. I had to uninstall it first. Then it installed OK. I found an uninstall on the install disk, but my install is a download, so may be different from yours. Luck, Jim

why mess with on board sound when you can pick up a
sound blaster card for $15.00-$20.00 here or ebay

this is onboard ,i have ne room for a sound card due to height.
i have heard of usb cards,anybody chime in please.
