VIA 4in1 messed up my xp system, help

Lasst night i installed, or tried to, the VIA 4 in one driver set om my 8kha based xp system. When windoes rebooted, i got a message saying that new hardware was found and where was teh driver for teh IDE busmaster system. I pointed the system to teh lfile location in my hd and then to the one on the cd that came with the mobo, but no luck, each time it said it could not find the driver. when i ran the instll program for the driver on it's own i got a message saying thet the driver had not been approved for xp, i told the system not to install the driver, but would it work? as of now my system works, but it seems slow for a 1.33ghz system. should i have left well enough alone? and what is the right driver to use?

theres no need to install via's 4n1 drivers in Windows Xp ..in fact I dont think u even can ..I got an error when i tried to.
