Via 4in1 driver

Hi
I am not sure which forum to post this question, but I guess this is the best.

I have iinstalled the latest via 4n1 drivers on
my A8V-E based HTPC. The instalation went fine. I am not sure how to confirm which components in my PC now use these drivers.

The IDE controller etc in teh device manager tab show a 2001 date!!. What am I missing here.

BTW, Asus A8V-E has the K8T890 via chipset.

Start Menu -> Run
regedit
OK

Go to HKEY Local Machine -> Software
Look for VIA, and check out the keys there. DON'T change anything, as registry changes can seriously botch the computer.

The version number might possibly be in there somewhere, but I don't know for sure. I moved from VIA chipsets back in the KT266A days, and now have nForce2's.

Ok, I just got to check a system. Yes, it is in there.

HKEY_Local_Machine -> Software -> VIA4in1software
One of the keys in there says 4in1version - that value is the version you've got.

And actually, the regedit way may be easier. No extra software to install. 😛

I will say, Everest is quite nice, and I do use it....though it might not tell you the VIA driver version anymore, come to think of it. They removed the software portion of the free version. :roll:
I liked it when it was freeware, as AIDA32. Freeware tends to ADD features. Once it goes commercial, features are slowly eroded away.
