VIA 4.28 IDE Driver +WIN2k

Hi I was just wondering is it faster using the WIN2k default drivers for the IDE ATA or installing the VIA drivers??? Cuz I noticed that after installing the via drivers that the option to choose DMA mode disappear (although you can still choose it using the IDE controlling tool that came with the drivers)

Be careful, The Via Bus mastering driver caused absoulute havov on my Win2K Server. I had to end up uninstalling the driver(uninstallible from Add/Remove programs). Now I'm back to the good old Primary and secondary IDE instead of the 2 Via BM Ultra DMA Channels. Everything works fine now.

Via Hardware suggests that you do not use this driver at all for Win2K

here is a clip from one of the Via Hardware Gurus.

Windows 2000 and 4.28 driver issues
"Recent posts on HardOCP have reminded me what a pain the new IDE drivers that are included in 4in1 4.28 are under Windows 2000, when installed on a VIA board with the new 686B southbridge. Until VIA can produce a new IDE busmaster for Win2K, I suggest 686B owners
ONLY install the Microsoft ATA/100 hotfix, which will help you eek out a bit more performance out of the default Microsoft IDE driver."
