VI Client 2.5....need help finding it

I'm in desperate need of increasing the disk space on a VM and I an currently using VI Client 2.01.

Doing some searching on the web, I found that VI Client will let you increase the VD from the GUI but I cannot find a download of 2.5. VMWare seems to only offer it as part of Virtual Center so I can't get it from their site even though I am registered.

Can anyone help me find the stand alone client or at least put me out of my misery and let me know if it is not available as a stand alone.

I have it here at work, let me see if I can find a way to host it for you. Make sure you dont need virtual center 2.5, as the client just connects to whatever VC or ESX server you have and the lower versions might not have the features you want.

Thanks again. The client d/l'ed and installed without a hitch.

Unfortunately, even when I invoke the 2.5 client, it reverts back to 2.0.1. I guess I have my answer on dependency with the VC. 🙁

There is a copy of VI2.5 contained in the Linux server copy of the VMware Server 2.0 Beta.

The VC client will not work with a different version of Virtual Center. Been awhile since I upgraded but I believe even the revisions have their own client software. But for sure a 2.5 client will not work with VC2.0.1 It's not the client that allows functionality anyway. VC2.5 has quite a few "upgrades". The client connect software has nothing to do with them however. The functionality is on your version of Virtual Center.

SSH in and use vmkfstools to expand the disk.

vmkfstools -X 20GB /vmfs/volumes/storage1/foo/foo.vmdk

makes it 20GB total.

The VI client is evil.

I agree with cmetz, vmkfstools is what you want to use to manipulate the vmdk files.
Check out the vmware forums, there are plenty of instruction on how to do this.
