VGA to TV 1024x768 scan converter upgrade info?

Since losing TV output on my last video card upgrade, I thought I would upgrade from the normal video card TV output's of 800x600 to an external up to 1024x768 scan convertor. This make sense for me, as other video card upgrades will not require TV output, and I also get higher resolutions.

Price is #1 priority, as long as it is not garbage. $70 +/-.
As a former V3 3K owner, I already know the basic quality and text limitations.
Anything I should look out for?
Any bad or good things with some brands?
Any HOT DEALS currently running on these?

Thanks in advance..

I think the AverKey imicro will do 1024x768 and someone on these forums recently found one for under $60, and they said that it worked great.

Did I understand that right? There are cards that can output to TV at 1024X768? My Diamond ViperII only does 640X480, and I figured that's what they all did. Man, if there is a card that can do that let me know...

And what type of quality do you get from the scan converter? And can you have simultaneous display on a monitor?

The quality of course depends on the scan converter - can be excellent, can be horrible. Typically comparable to or slightly better than the TV-out on a video card.

Simultaneous display is possible with most scan converters. You plug your monitor and TV into the converter, and connect the converter to your VGA port.

So far have found Averkey imicro for around $90, and TView Gold (looks like many more features and seems to compare to Averkey 300 Gold), "used" on e8ay for around $85+.

Any good or bad things known about these, or better yet, any better prices?

I know one of the users on these forums found a place selling the imicro for $56 within the past month, you might try searching the forums and forum archives for "imicro" and see if you can find it.

I've had really good luck on e*bay finding stuff for cheap when I've had the time to be patient and wait for the right item at the right price.

RobsTV--I've got a TView Gold Scan converter that I've never used that I'd be willing to part with. The box is open (display) but it has never been used. Your email isn't displayed in your profile, and I don't want to post any prices in this forum (definitely MUCH less than the E8ay price).

Email me if you are interested.

I've been using Matrox Marvel G200 and output to TV is at 1024x768. I don't know if the G400 offer a higher resolution for TV out.

G200 OEM Marvel is $99, but you might find a better deal in the net.
