Is there some dos command line that can be used to restore video to basic windows drivers for monitor and video card in XP Pro?

No luck getting any video to work in regular or safe mode.

yes tried enable and copy and expand commands.. either says it works or no impact.. or access denied for copying and expanding files from install cd back to c: drive.

any ideas on how to get back in?

If I boot in linux, no problems with video or monitor.. full screen displayed no problems. Just to confirm this is software problem, not hardware.

Did you try Last known good configuration option?. Also you may want to have a look at Ultimate boot CD for Windows. If you have another XP box available it is pretty easy to make a disk to try and recover your machine. One other thing you may want to try is to stick another vid card if you have one laying around in there temporarily to see if you can force it to detect new hardware and at least get you in so you can uninstall the problem drivers.

Yep tried last know config, enable vga.. safe mode with command prompt, etc.. no video for any once windows shows on display just prior to going into xp. really strange.. believe it is related to stop of save vga in display options.

downloading ultimate xp disk now in linux, since xp not working on this machine. will burn iso to cd and.. will see if this will help.

Last known config can screw things up.. read it might delete restore points.. which was and is my goal.. so now thinking that was dangerous and risky choice.
