VGA Extension cable

i would like to move my tower 10ft away from the monitor. Currently running res of 1600 x 1200 @60hrtz. if i purchase a vga extension cable will i experience video loss in any way. picture has to be better than good when play games at the res... any ideas if this will work as i would like. thanks

You should be alright as long as they are good quality cables. If you have a lot of power cords or the like, keep them away from the video cable. Anything that can add interference might do so. Also, don't get a cable anything longer than you need to.

I went to all computer shops in the town and some didnt even know there is such thing as vga extension cable... so i finally found 1 which is 1.8m, but its way to tin i even thnk its twisted pair cord first, it have no filters on it and both sides got screws... it not surprising me that i see degraded text, on my screen. The point is its bad quality cable, and i got three 220V power cables crossing it, damn i payd 5$ for this crap cable, and i want em back, think guys in shop gona check it and since they dont got so much power cables close to it it wont show any problem and they wont take it back...

I tryed to move it away from power cables, but font quality becomes better, but not perfect. There is also 2 horizontal lines over my monitor.

Hi, Older monitors used fewer leads in the cable, so older extension cables also used fewer leads and pins. Look for one that has at least 14 pins. The missing one was used as a key and had no signal on it. If it doesn't have all the pins it will still work, but Monitor Plug and Pray will probably not work. Remember the extension cable is male on one end and female on the other. There are a lot of cables out there that are really monitor cables with male on both ends. Color leads should be Coax, so shouldn,t pick up stuff from nearby AC cables. Other leads in the cable are shielded by the main shield around all the leads, so should also be OK. Hope this helps a little
