Hi, Older monitors used fewer leads in the cable, so older extension cables also used fewer leads and pins. Look for one that has at least 14 pins. The missing one was used as a key and had no signal on it. If it doesn't have all the pins it will still work, but Monitor Plug and Pray will probably not work. Remember the extension cable is male on one end and female on the other. There are a lot of cables out there that are really monitor cables with male on both ends. Color leads should be Coax, so shouldn,t pick up stuff from nearby AC cables. Other leads in the cable are shielded by the main shield around all the leads, so should also be OK.
