I have a Ati radeon x300SE 128MB. Suddenly, when i was watching a movie the image became distorted,, with lines. Almost like if u didnt have the drivers installed...Well i got the last drivers i could get from the ati website and nothing happens.

I discoverd that the problem is intermitent cause when i was watching a movie the quality seem good. but again im on the same situation. As i xplained in other topics i had problems with my Northbridge fan... i would like to know if the overheating of the chipset could be a cause of the video problem.... I havent gotten the chance to probe my VGA card cuz around me no one has a pciE MOBO............

What should i do.........

(i love my english)

i had a problem with my vGA card. I thought the problem was the monitor. I recently changed it and because of the good quality i realized that my problem is the card. I really dont know whats the root of the problem. In my curiosity i dismounted the card and the its passive cooler was kind of hot. Could my problem be a temp one?

And again what happens with my video card is that the quality seems poor. When u watch a video u can see vertical lines across. And yes i''ve tested many movies. Even i have tested the videos in other computers and the quality is good. So please i need some help

Sorry for the english. Im latino

High temps would definately screw up video. Have you run a 3d test like 3dmark06? Try that and see if the card shows artifacts. Also, have you tried other DVD playback software?

ATI's Radeon X300se is the most horrible excuse for a video "card" that has all of Dx9 except SM 3 in it that has ever existed. Only the Xpress200 IGP is worse (and Nforce6100 /6150 moreso). Most GPUs will start distorting output at about 90-100 Celcius, so if you install ATI Tool Tray, you can find out how hot that atrocious little crap card is actually getting.

I don't think that card has the onboard sensor, at least not from what I could find on google.

If it's actually heat screwing you up, you might try The Card Cooler. The website redirects now to a different URL...it could be a blip, or they might be out of business, I dunno. Anyway, dual Sunon fans blowing directly over both the top and bottom of the videocard can really help (especially if you wanna overclock). I got one a few years ago, it not only helped me overclock my Ti-200, it also got my 1.6A to run stable at 2.4G (before this cooler, I couldn't get over 2.2G stable).

Otherwise, another option is a new videocard.

Maybe i should get rid of that video card. Now im not sure if that might be the problem. Anyone can help?
