VGA cable issues

A friend of mine is having issues w/ his VGA cable:

I've got my comp set up again, but the old monitor I have doesn't have a 15 pin connection cable... instead, it has something like this:

.....

The middle tier has three pins, a hole, and a "nub" that looks like a big pin bent back against itself. My question is: is there any way to adapt one of these cables to this setup? :

Unfortunately, this cable looks like it's attached in the case... and since I'm a hardware know-nada, that ain't good. Any ideas? Am I looking for an X-pin to Y-pin VGA adaptor?
