VGA cable for Xbox 360 worth it?

Currently using components with my set and am wondering if I should spring for the VGA HD cable. Is the quality of the image going to increase? My set only does 1080i so I'm only probably going to set my xbox to 720p. Also, how's the upconversion with DVDs? I heard that I would need the VGA adapter to do that.

You need VGA to have any upconversion of DVDs. Whether or not that is worth worrying about depends on your TV. As for the actual games, there is no advantage to VGA unless you benefit from 1080p output (which you don't). If your 360 is your primary DVD player you might want to spring for a VGA cable; otherwise I wouldn't bother. I personally have a Samsung 720p DLP set and didn't bother with the VGA cables, even though I have the 360 HD-DVD drive, since I use an upscaling Sony DVD player for DVDs.

I read that the image is pretty washed out with the vga cable and that pretty much negates the upconversion.

the image was washed out using the vga cable on my 37 1080p westy.

Havent tried it on another set yet though.

BTW, I picked up the HD DVD drive today for the 360 and it is crazy nice. Don't understand how it cna be so cheap. Not to mention I had it up and running on my PC in minutes.

Lets see 720p at 120" or 1080P at 37".

If your TV won't let you adjust the picture settings on VGA yes it will likely be washed out, and alot of sets wont let you change picture settings on VGA.
