Couple questions about VGA boxes that are used to play consoles on monitors.

First, do you have to have a PC hooked up to the monitor along with the VGA box for it to work, or can the monitor stand alone (with power of course)? Also, how does the quality compare to a normal tube television (non-flat screen)?

I believe the monitor can be alone, as long as it is powered. Quality should be excellent if you are using a real VGA box and console that supports it. Unfortunately, Dreamcast is the only one that really does. I believe you can get certain cables/boxes for Gamecube and PS2 but I think they only work on games that support progressive scan or something.

There is a VGA box out there made by KDS (not Korean Data Systems though) and people who use this with their Xbox say it works very well. It can accept and display HD signals and resolutions on your monitor. You can get it for $100 now days.

I would be using it for PS2 and Gamecube.
