I read every post I could so i could upgrade my two comps nicely and I got lazy on the vid card because I "knew" Geforce rocked! I have now read countless negative posts on the FX5200. My two asus P4C800-E deluxes arrived today at 11 am from UPS with the 4 sticks of Kingston KVR400X64C25/512 PC 3200. Now im waiting on my HD's ata 133 7200 and my pentium 2.4's

My VGA ASUS V9520Magic/128MB FX5200 is now sitting in the fed ex 10 miles from my house and will be delived monday or tuesday.

Should I send it back!? (it only cost me $76, which is more expensive than one ive just found at pricewatch.com $60)

What is the equal ATI card in comparision

Strapped for cash now, Time was up in the Navy and I start school this month.
Maybe I'll use that GIBill money for two new 9800's yea forget the degree

From what I hear, the FX5200 is about equal to a Radeon 9100, perhaps a bit slower. It's a fine budget card, but it's not close to the flagship cards, either in price or performance. As a recent college grad, I say to save your money, you'll need to eat. Peace.

If you're planning on doing a lot of gaming, especially with games that will be coming out like half life 2 and doom 3, I would really recommend getting something better. Fx5200 really do offer poor performance, and you could get something like a ti4200 for just a little more that would perform substantially better.

As for those $60 fx5200's, they might have been ones with the 64bit memory bandwidth--those are the only ones I've seen for that cheap so far.
