Im installing the VF900 cu onto my 7900gt sc co. Should i use the thermal grease that came with, or my tube of arctic silver 5?

wowza! stock was hitting 55+ after that much time

There is no difference using the thermal paste that Zalman ships with there heatsinks and Video card coolers!

I have used both.
No difference at all.
The thermal paste Zalman ships with there coolers is top quality!

Also AS5 is hugely overrated.
Most of the top heatsink manufacturers ship a high quality thermal paste with there products, albiet a very small amount.

But its your call.
I wouldn`t go out and purchase AS5 if I had the Zalman thermalpaste/

Good Luck!

Conclusion!

Load temps with stock evga 7900gt co sc after 3dmark2006 = 65
Load temps with VF900 cu evga 7900gt co sc after 3dmark2006 = 41

but i got 15 less on the 3d mark score 🙁

So does this mean lowering the temp of a card doesnt improve performance? its just in the overclock...

😀

Temps have no impact on performance.

15 3dmarks is well within the margin of error.

I've gotten more than 15 3Dmarks difference with no system changes if I run it multiple times. I found also that *sometimes* after running it a couple times in a row the final score is a bit higher than before because it has loaded stuff into memory 😀

so now that my temps are stable 35-41c @ core clock 550mhz, memory frequency 790mhz...

what should i bump the OC up to? suggestions?
