Weight, 180g vs. 270g.
Cooling, about 2c-3c difference.

For the 6600GT the AlCu is fine. You won't be able to use the ramsinks though unless you grind or cut them down, search the boards and you'll find out how to do that (6600GT AGP only).

just askin in general, if in the future i decide to get one when i get a new card.. not yet :p

i like teh VF700 for its compatibility, since i could buy it now and use it, then use it later on another card

i thought i could put on ramsinks though, the cooler just sits off the card abit? no?

right now my ram isnt cooled

The 6600GT AGP wasn't a native AGP card, it was designed for PCI-e and an HSI chip was added for the port over to AGP. Because of this, the placement of the GPU itself is different...

In other words, the place where you would mount the vf700 on the 6600GT AGP is higher up on the card, and too close to the video ram for the heatsink fins to clear the ramsinks.

The edges of the fins also extend past the card, but not too much to really worry about.

More info from Zalman here:

Yeah, you shouldn't need that.

I don't think it would even be possible to run a vf900 on that card because of the HSI heatsink. The vf700 has shorter fins on one side so there aren't any problems, but the vf900 is completely round and may run into the HSI hs.

Due to the cooler design, your RAM chips will also be cooled a bit by the airflow...enough for the 6600GT RAM.
I'd save the RAMsinks for the next card you upgrade to, as they are taped on forever anyway (or would take too much effort to remeove them again...) ;)
