VF700 vs VF900

The VF700 looks like the heatsink is much bigger so it looks like it would cool better. But the VF900 has the heatpipes and it's a little smaller. I don't think one is any louder than the other.

Which one is actually cooler?

VF900 cools better, uses heatpipes which are more effective, and is most likely worth the 10 extra dollars. BTW you can get them for around 38 dollars if you search around hard enough.

Anyhow, ive used both, and there both great heat sinks, but if you want better cooling go with the VF900.

I think pretty much anything would be quieter than the jet engine sound of most of the stock 7600GT coolers.

I'm in the process of getting a VF700-Cu for mine mainly to reduce the noise.

the vf900 will work much better when mounted upside down as in the lian li v series of cases. my x1900xt idles at 40c in the hot NYC summer load at 55-60

seems like the vf900 is smaller cooler and quieter. The heatpipes are great for quieter operation. Louisssss... is the v1000 series the only case that the MoBo is mounted upside down?

i had both VF700cu and VF900cu, the 900cu has more fins (better operation) size doesnt always matter, plus theres the 2 heatpipes and easier installation ;)

The 900 and 700 have the same fan, it's just limited to a lower speed on the 900. For noise if you're undervolting then there's no difference. For cooling neither of them is going to be challenged by the puny heat requirements of the 7600GT. I'd go for the cheaper vf700.

Exactly, which is why I did just that and ordered the cheaper VF700-Cu for my 7600GT.

If I'm not mistaken the 1000, 1100, 1200, and the 2000 have the mobos mounted upside down (inverted). Need to look closely at the specs cause Lian Li has more than one model that inverts the mobo.

My 7600GT KO's stock cooler is quieter than most 7600GT coolers, but I'll be getting a VF700 for it since the VF900 looks wider, and my Wave Master case has little width to spare between the GFX card and the side panel...

I would say the VF-900 has a smaller foot print, or at the very least no bigger then the VF-700.

Some of the CM Stackers (original and 830) and the Silverstone TJ06 also support that inverted configuration.

V series & vf900 ftw =] my x1900xt hit 40C idle in NYC hot summer with no AC and load at 60C after 2-3 hours of gaming
