Vexing HD LED problem

The problem is that my case LED showing HD activity is screwed up. When the computer is booting up, the light blinks according to HD activity. However, once the machine is fully booted into w2k pro, the HD light stays on even though the HD is no longer moving. The light just stays on for hours! Is there any fix, maybe in the bios or S.M.A.R.T? I light to be able to guage activity based on how much the LED is blinking and if the light is constantly on, then i really can't tell anything. Thanks.

Have you tried flipping the connector around on your motherboard?

Burn: Yes, I've flipped it around and then it doesn't light at all.

Cheep: I think they are talking about IDE CDR/W's. I have a SCSI one so this shouldn't be a problem. Maybe it's my IDE Zip drive?
