Hi guys

I'd like to ask you for your help.

I started noticing lag with my keyboard and mouse. It's like it wont move and moves a little. When I'm typing this, it's going like I'm typing, but nothing shows up, and then a second later all the characters are typed out. It is wireless mouse and keyboard but this have never happened and my keyboard and mouse are really close to the desktop. It only happens at night and my sister uses her ipad to stream video around the time it happens. I just couldn't understand why ipad would cause this (if it does).

I went into task manager and looked at my physical memory. I just restarted my computer and it is saying:

Total 6142
Cached 1569
Available 4158
Free 2832

and says physical memory: 32%

Please help!

Sounds like the keyboard/mouse is using the same radio frequency as the WiFi connection which is causing interference. Verify the frequency of the keyboard/mouse against the WiFi connection the iPad is using (b/g/n). You may be able to minimize the conflict simply by changing the channel the router is using (1-11/14), or if you're using 802.11b, switch to 802.11g or n.

But this doesn't happen when the other laptops are connected to the wifi. This only happens at night when the iPad is connected. I'll still check.

Thx

Keyboard/mouse use 2.4GHz, which is the range that 802.11g uses, but iPad should be b/g/n capable. Force iPad to use b or n (if possible) or change the channel on the router.

Channel 01 is 2.412GHz
Channel 11 is 2.462GHz

It's not much of a difference, but it might be enough to reduce interference.

This post suggests n may be more problematic than g, so if iPad is using n, forcing it to g might help.

You may also be able to change the channel that the keyboard/mouse uses.

If that's the case, wouldn't any device that connects to my router via wifi interfere with my mouse and keyboard?

My router is only b/g, doesn't have n =(

Ah ic. This reminded me that this whole lag issue doesn't happen when my dad is streaming video from a laptop. My desktop is the only thing that is connected to the router via ethernet cable.

Any possibility that I'm under attack by some hackers?

No, you're not under attack. Your dad's laptop is probably just using a different WiFi standard (b/g/n) than the iPad is. Verify what standard they are using and make changes to the network (if possible) to eliminate the interference.
