Very Weird...

Ok my computer is a Semi Gaming computer needs a way better CPU though.

6600GT
2.20Celeron
512MB PC2700


Well Doom 3 runs great on medium settings 800x600 all other options on. 60 FPS when in room with no one. 40 FPS when fighting. But.. I'll play Max Payne 2 or somthing or an older game and on max settings (BlackHawkDown is a good example) it will totally run like crap. Any way to fix this? AA/AF is off.

Hmm.... welcome to the forums!

There could be a zillion things happening given what info you've provided. For starters, list what version of Windows you are running. Let us know if you have all the updates including sp2, etc. If you have antivirus software / adware / spyware software, list what you have installed. How old is your install of Windows? Do you run scandisk & defrag every once in a while? How do the games run on medium settings?

Just some questions to get it started. Good luck.

Although the later celery's were better you can see why they sell for $500-700.00
have you tried playing with the hardware acceleration yet?
another stick of memory would be a fairly cheap thing to try.
Close any unnecessary background apps will free up more resources.
have you checked for any game patches?
