Very weird signal problem

I have a 42 inch Samsung hdtv , I have it hooked up to my desktop and laptop. My wireless internet signal is somewhat weak, 3/5 bars. But it greatly impacts my internet performance, cant play most games online, and browser is very slow , youtube videos hardly load etc. Weird thing is... when i flip my laptop screen up, my wireless signal goes to 5/5 bars and runs flawlessly. I was using my laptop for the longest time with 5/5 bars at all times, until i connect it to my HDTV, it ran fine for a couple days, but then the trouble started. I am quit positive it is an issue with the TV, but why?

The antenna is in the lid of the laptop?

Also, the wavelength for 2.4G is ~5" ... moving your laptop a half inch to 3" around the desktop can make a big difference in your signal quality and strength. Your TV may be interfering too ... moving the laptop to a different area (assuming it has to stay close to the tv) might also improve the situation.

A CD is a nearly perfect reflector for 2.4G, you can try using it as a barrier between the host and the tv to help diagnose the area of effect.
