Very weird error prompt

What do you folks make of this:
"There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk2\DR5." Cancel, Try Again or Continue?
This strange error started showing up recently when I attempt to open certain media files. Mostly from Quicktime but sometimes from WMP too. If I hit the Cancel or Continue buttons a few times the prompt goes away and I can play the media without a hitch.
This is mighty weird and coincidentally started when I downloaded all those new Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 videos. Any gurus out there feel like tackling this oddity in an otherwise rock solid and rocket fast system? Thank You berry much.

I think I can now trace the error to a firmware upgrade recently installed on the TDK CDR-W drive. For the benefit of anyone else encountering the error, I'll explain in detail what happened and what I did to correct (for the most part) this annoying little gremlin.

Here were my drive assignments prior to this saga:
A:/floppy, C:/TDK CDR-W, D:/Kenwood 72X, (E:/compact flash bay, F:/memory stick bay, G:/SD bay within Media XP), H:/W-D hard drive partition 1, I:/W-D hard drive partition 2, J:/Maxtor RAID array.

After closely examining the drives in Disk manager, I noticed that somehow the drive assignments for C: and E: drives swapped places. I changed the assignments back to the original designation which gets rid of the error as long as I keep a CD in the TDK when running quicktime files. It's a minor concession as I'm used to the system setup the way it is, err..was and is again! I suspect the error flared when the upgrade triggered the fact that my hard drive assignments are higher than my CD drives.

This was all very wacky to say the least. Now, any ideas on just why the TDK needs a CD loaded to avoid a media error after all these months? I'm pretty certain the firmware upgrade triggered this, but why? Thanks again!
