I recently sold a Thunderbird 1.0gig system and provided a 1 month warranty. Was sold to a lady... So just now, she called and said the computer wouldn't boot to windows... Although when i sold the computer to her, everything was working fine. But that's not my point.

She said, everything was working fine the day before. And today, when she tries to power up the computer, the monitor says, "Going to Off mode". That's what she told me. I've never heard of such a problem, can someone enlighten me on what's wrong? Something wrong with the power consumption? Or some faults with the monitor?

But i told her i would give her 1month warranty on it. The problem is, i have never seen a monitor post that.

My monitor does that if I turn it on without turning on the computer, or when there is no signal from the computer to the monitor. Could be a loose cord or anything. Always has been something small for me. Just remembered does that when the computer goes into hibernation.

ronn jsut solved your problem... 99 times out of a hundred a signal issue with a end users computer is the cable being loose or disconnected. Her cat or other pet may have jarred it loose, or if she has no pets she may have moved the machine to clean but doesnt know what to check for while moving it and jsut assumes everything is tight all the time. if shes close run over real quick to make certain, if not tell her to check the cables in the back and make sure all are plugged in snug or are plugged in at all. that will most likely be it. on from there is possible bad video card or other problems. also, what is she using to turn on the computer? ive seen some people leave thier computer on all the time and jsut turn off the monitor button thinking that was the only on switch. in this case maybe shes doing that but jsut doesnt realize the computer itelf isnt on, the possabilities are endless, ive been in tech support/ computer repair a long time and have seen some real doosies, explore all possabilities. let us know what happens
