very very weird and alarming message

a while back i made a post complaining that my computer kept shutting down over night and that i couldnt figure out why it was only happening at night and not during the day or whatever

some people suggested people doing it through p2p networks, or perhaps i needed a better surge protector, well neither are right


i was just on my computer and the following message came up in a box:

X This system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.

Message
Windows must now restart because the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectidly.



thats the message


what the heck does that mean and how do i fix it?

Step two is a good firewall.

To add to the post above, Step 1.5 should be an update and subsequently a thorough scan of your hard disk with a good Antivirus program. Step 1.7 should include a comprehensive scan of your system with Ad-aware.

Step 1.8 scan with Spybot as well to make sure you catch all the nasties.
