One of the most bizarre things I have ever seen.
When playing video (WMV/MPEG) in more than one application simultaneously (win media player, media player classic, Adobe premier) in any combination, for example one video in media player and one in media player classic- The system just hard freezes.
System:
Asus M2N-E Nforce 570 Ultra (latest BIOS 8.x)
Athlon 64 X2 4200+
2 gigs crucial RAM
No overclocks of anything
Now here is the really wild part. It only happens with Nvidia cards and not ATI cards. It happens with:
XFX 7600 GS
Gigabyte 8600 GT
It happens under
Windows XP-32 and XP-64 and Windows Vista 32 and 64.
I'm pretty convinced it has to be the motherboard since it happens under all the different OS's.
Has anybody ever seen anything like this? Why in the hell would it only do it with Nvidia cards playing video? Normally most people would have never seen this issue but I edit video and it just hit me from the get go.
I know I could just dump the motherboard and get something else but now that I have spent countless hours narrowing down the problem I want to follow it all the way to the end and make Asus fix this crap.....
Anybody else out there with an Nforce 570 and a Nvidia card this happens to?
