How many (more or fewer) possibilities does a typical mechanical lock have versus a combo lock? Closest noted estimation wins. Don't forget to show your work.

*Hint: typical mechnical locks - used on vaults, masterlocks.... combo lock - they're usually 6 digits ranging from 0 - 9 + the # key.

Mechanical Lock (assuming possible digits are 0-99 and can repeat numbers) 100*100*100 = 1,000,000 total combinations
Combo Lock (also assuming you can repeat digits) 9 * 9 * 9 * 9 * 9 * 9 = 531,441 total combinations
Difference: 468,559

I'm pretty sure Satanic blood rituals were banned from schools in the 50s because they were thought to be mean/rebellious.
