Very subtle "flickering" on monitor. Malfunctioning backlight maybe? (video included)

It's so subtle, that I didn't notice it until today. There's a very subtle, gentle "pulsating" of brightness on my monitor; like it's fluctuating between two different brightness settings. It flickers at a very steady interval... about once every second. It's more visible on a black screen.

Here's a short video of the problem. I made a pure black image in paint, and fullscreened it. I realize the problem is subtle enough to begin with, and it will be harder to see on a cell phone video. But if you train your eyes very closely, you can see the flickering. Look at the backlight bleed on the edges of the screen for a better visual hook.

My monitor is an ASUS VS247H-P that I bought a couple years ago. I'm using an HDMI cable. I thought maybe I would try swapping the cables; but I'm not sure HDMI would be the problem, since it's all-digital and shouldn't be having issues like that, right?

What do you guys think? I suspect it might be a backlight problem. It's very small but the flickering spans across the whole monitor. Thanks in advance.
