We just upgraded our Xserves this past weekend to Tiger (from Panther). Everything is running fine on the Mac side, but on the Windows side we are having a very strange problem. One of the XP Pro computers will not allow a user to save a document. This document is inside a folder that is accessible only by the accounting department. There is a group for accounting and he is a member of that group.
The server will allow him into that folder and he can open files inside those folders. The strange thing happens when he attempts to save that document back onto the server. A message appears stating that 'The document has been saved, however, there has been a file sharing issue. Please close the document and try to reopen it.' After you close the document, it will not allow you to reopen the file. The computers states that he no longer has access to that file.
Before he tried to save it, the owner of the file is Admin with Read & Write access. After he tries to save it, the Owner changes to his user name with No Access. If I change it back to the admin, it changes right back after he tries to save again.
So far the workaround has been to have every file in that folder be owned by him with Read & Write access. This allows him to edit and save the documents without any problems. This isn't really harming anything at the moment, but I would really like to know what the heck is going on with these permissions!
