My sister emailed me this morning and told me that she (yahoo mail) can't email our mother (sbcglobal mail)... it keeps giving a kickback.

So I think "OK, user error. She must not be typing the address in properly." So I have her double check it... and it still won't work. I log into our mother's account, and sure enough, she had not received any emails from my sister, but had received them from other people, including myself. (In my initial reply to my sister I CC'ed the sbcglobal account and it went through.)

So I remote into the computer my sister is sending from, and try it myself. Sure enough I got a kickback 4 times in a row. So I think "OK maybe it is Firefox that is causing the problems." So I have her login and I try IE7 (Beta 3), and sure enough it works! 5 times in a row. I log into my mother's account and there they are... all 5 test emails went through.

Right now she is logged into both FF and IE7 and emails can send, and are received from both browsers.

I then log out and close IE7, try FF again, and get a kickback 4 times.
I log into just IE7 and I get another 4 kickbacks.
I log back into FF so that I am in both FF and IE7, and lo and behold it works again! All test emails from both browsers go through!

 <-- me

What is going on?!

Cliffs:
Yahoo user sends email to SBCglobal user with FF and gets kickback every time.
Log into IE7 + FF at the same time = no kickback
IE7 alone or FF alone = kickback every time

Thoughts?

IE7 is Betaware. What version of FF are you using? Avoid betaware. IE7 seems to be causing probs for many. Same with FF Beta 2.

Try rolling back IE7 to 6.

FF 1.5... I have heard that the 2.0 beta is very unstable.

I don't think IE7 is problem. It actualy only works when IE7 is logged in with FF.

Have you tried IE7-B3? It is very nice, stable, and has few bugs.

OK - kickbacks or rejections usually come from the receiving POP3 account. Maybe there is some good indicator when you combine the two browsers - or something gets left out. I have my POP3 account set to reject any mail from Yahoo. No offense, but that is a major source of Spam. So, it could relate to a Spam filter at the SBC end. ???
