Very strange FFox resizing on screen off/sleep

Recently I installed a GTX1060 graphics card to use with a brand new Acer ET430K monitor running across displayport at 3820x21660. My Firefox is set to a specific size on the screen and it appears this way when I close and re-open it. I seldom leave a browser, or any other application, open.

On recent times when I stepped away from the computer and left FF up but turned the Acer off, upon returning finds the FF window resized to something like VGA (640x480). I have not tested this behavior with other browsers, but I know it doesn't happen with FF in Linux. What could cause this resizing to take place?

Well, I tried everything in that thread plus everything I could find on the Internet via Google/Bing search and still the problem persists. I guess this Windows-specific problem is not going to get resolved. It isn't a problem in Linux.

This is, for better or for worse, standard behavior for Windows, with DisplayPort (especially) and also depending on brand / model of card, HDMI.
