Very slow GPU performance

Hi Guys, i hope someone can help me...

Just finished building new pc. Below is my build.
Asus maximus viii extreme
Intel i7 6700k
Gskill tridentz 3200 ddr4
Dual sli zotac 980ti amp extreme
Samsung ssd
Psu corsair rm1000x

I tried benchmarking in 3dmark firestrike and my score is only around 5,000.
When i play bf4 i only got 30-40fps.
I tried removing 1 gpu but the results are still the same.
Tried my gpu with my another rig which has a maximus vi gene mobo and i74770 i got a score of around 15000 with only single gpu. What could possibly the problem? I googled hoping to find answer but i cant find any solution and i cant find any issue similar to mine... I also tried to change power management setting in nvidia control panel but still no luck...

Thanks...

Is your GPU working hard in idle? Then it may be some mining malware.

Or is it a clean install?

Try run GPU-Z or something similar and check clocks. Both idle and bench/gaming.

I tried to clean install using nvidia / custom installation several times...I have aida64 installed... I noticed when i play bf4 gpu output only around 10-20% and temp barely goes up from 37c idle to 40+ when playing bf4 fps only 30+... I know this is odd because when i tried installing same gpu to another pc my temp goes from 37c to 68c with 130+ fps.

Can you suggest other ways of clean installing btw im using windows 10 pro. I noticed every time i uninstalled every nvida files driver physics etc. it just comes back with different version of driver i dont know it its due to windows 10?...

That's normal. I just want to be sure you made a completely clean Windows install. So its not possible some issue with older drivers and stuff.

Also check the CPU speed.

Yes this is completely new install of windows 10 just bought the whole system including the windows 10 cd from a shop and they also assembled and installed the windows 10 for me...

I just noticed now when i ran aida64 gpgpu benchmark it says ther my cpu core i7-6700k only has 800mhz, 4 cores, 8 threads.

Couple weeks back someone had a similar problem where the windows powerplan was on minimum speed or something.

Try setting the power plan to "high performance", max power state to 100%

Looks like exactly the same problem indeed. Why win 10 defaults to that is beyond me.

solve the problem... thank you very much shintaiDK for guiding me.

The solution for this problem is... Maximus viii extreme has 2 bios. there's a small button at the bottom of the board that says bios switch that you can press to choose the bios you wanted to use. 1 is locked at 800mhz and the other one is for the normal cpu speed. I think the technician may press this button during installation accidentaly.

I hope this can help other maximus viii extreme owners in the future.

Thank you again...
